Retromorphosis
Our exhibition Retromorphosis is touring to CUBE, Manchester from 17/10/08 to 20/12/08.

FWCA Working with Schools
In October and November we will be working with 10 Corby schools and a few others from the area by introducing them to our new venue, its temporary Richard Woods installation and the Hansel& Gretel audio tour.

Good News for FWCA
Great news this month! We have been awarded two substantial grants, one from Arts council and one from Heritage Lottery Fund to take our work forward.

Awards For All
We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded Awards for All, East Northamptonshire Council and Arts Council funding to deliver our second Audio walk through the landscape. This project will be aimed at family taking part in a unique experience around the story of Hanzel and Gretel. The October event dates will be launched soon!

Cottages up and running
We have started to use the cottages at Sudborough Green Lodge. We have already had five artist staying in the renovated cottage since we started to lease the property this month. They have all been developing their own practice and running children or adult workshops based on the immediate environment.

Education Officer
We are pleased to announce that James Steventon has joined the team here as Education Officer from the beginning of this month. He will be working here three days a week.

Rescheduled Light Night
Laurenz Theinert’s LIGHT NIGHT on the evening of 29 March had to be cancelled at the last minute due to very strong winds. We apologies for the inconvenience caused by this – especially to those we did not manage to contact before you set out to come to the event.
However we are pleased to announce that Laurenz is keen to try again and he will come over from Germany on the rescheduled date of 13 September.

Arts Award
Fermynwoods was short listed for an Arts & Business award for our project Quiet Sound at the end of 2006. This exhibition was sponsored by Vincent Sykes & Higham and Arts & Business.

Education Officer Post
We are looking for an Education Officer to be responsible for co-ordinating the education programme of this not-for-profit arts organisation over a 12-month period starting April/May 2008.

TERMS: A 12-month contract on a self-employment basis estimated at three days a week. Maximum payment of £15,000.

Although not guaranteed, it is anticipated that the contract will be renewed thereafter on an annual basis, subject to satisfactory delivery and availability of funding.

Artist John Harper discusses the research for the project Broken and Breaking Ground that took place in Fermyn Woods and the resulting exhibition at Fermynwoods Contemporary Art.

Gallery 2007 Season Ends
We are now closed for the winter until the end of February 2008. Our last show was a great success and we were very pleased it was selected as ‘pick of the week’ in the Guardian guide 5 weeks running.

Over the winter we will be planning for next year. We are really pleased to announce that we have already been awarded a three year grant from the Arts Council and grants from RNRP and the Ernest Cook Trust towards our plans.

Renovation begins
The cottages at Sudborough Green lodge have started to be done up for the exciting partnership project with the Forestry Commission. Next year they will be used for residencies by artists and a specialized education programme.

The gallery cat ‘Bob’ sadly died this week. I’m sure many of you will remember him for his engagement with every thing that went on.

Hidden Tracks Audio walk at FWCA
The Hidden Tracks audio walk is available this year from now until when we close on 28 October. You can either download the audio from our website  or the Hidden Tracks website www.hiddentracks.co.uk and take yourself for the walk or come here to the gallery and borrow an MP3 when we are open (Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays 2-6pm) or ring to arrange another time and then take yourself for a walk.
 
We hope to run two events later in the year, where we lead a group of people and also organize performances and a picnic on route.
 
I hope you will come and have a go! It was really popular last year.

Partnership with Forestry Commission
We our very pleased to announce that Fermynwoods Contemporary Art has joined in partnership with the Forestry Commission to develop a vision for an International Artist Residency and Education Centre at Fermyn Woods. This will be a place where art, environment & science can come together through research and education. This year we will be offering a series of artist-led school workshops towards the end of this year’s summer term, an artist-led Treasure Hunt day for the family and an International Artist residency to an artist from Germany.
