Big Draw 2009

The Campaign for Drawing’s annual Big Draw event ‘to get everyone drawing’, saw artist in residence Martin Prothero lead a day’s activities, which gave an insight into his own practice of working in collaboration with nature, whilst offering some new approaches to drawing.

After gathering materials & inspiration from the surrounding environment, participants created a variety of ghostly drawings from sieved & refined soils sourced from around the country.

The culmination of the day was participants creating their own large-scale drawings recording their movement on specially prepared aluminium surfaces similar to Martin’s Carbon Light Life work.
