PLACE AS FILM
The forest is a place to hide,
be safe and take refuge in,
it is also a place to fear and repel from.
Imagine why you might be here
in the forest if you were here alone?
This was the challenge Artist Simon Woolham laid down to students from William Knibb Complementary Education Centre.
They responded by articulating their ideas into a short film with an accompanying poster.
With Simon’s help, the students utilised desktop publishing and sound editing software to film and edit their own narrative in response to the forest.
Simon Woolham is an Artist whose work is concerned with spaces and the narratives that unfold within them. Simon is also one half of sound and vision project M4SK 22.
With thanks to Cheryl Joyce at the Forestry Commission for introducing the students to an unfamiliar landscape.
