I Want Nature was the culmination of a two-year residency project with the artist Jacques Nimki & showcased an alluring installation of a rural wildflower meadow within the urban surroundings of Corby’s shopping centre.

Nimki’s work is inspired by weeds — the ‘outsiders’ of the plant world that thrive in neglected & hidden places. He uses a variety of mediums to examine ideas that relate predominantly to the urban environment. For Fermynwoods he investigated the wonderful array of weeds inhabiting our offsite venue at Sudborough Green Lodge & the adjacent SSSI wild flower meadow in Fermyn Woods — developing his practice through research & transforming the extensive garden area.

For this particular project Nimki produced a vast meadow of wild plants & weeds which was transported to the incongruous venue of a shop unit within Corby town shopping centre. Both vulnerable & threatening, the wildlife supported by the meadow grew & died during the installation, changing in an unpredictable manner throughout the course of this month long installation.
