Common Purpose
Contemporary art production and presentation in an age of economic uncertainty

A conference taking a peer to peer approach

Thursday 18 June 2015

The University of Northampton, Avenue Campus, St George’s Avenue, Northampton, NN2 6JD

The critical context for this conference is the current challenging economic climate we are working within as practicing artists and professionals involved in the delivery and support of the visual arts. We will consider how arts organisations can develop new approaches to their roles of supporting art production and engaging with audiences, as well as ways to build on successful activity. What positive strategies can we employ to sustain our activities under the pressures of cuts in arts funding and how might artists and organisations work together to build new networks and alliances to ensure the continued production and presentation of contemporary art?

Speakers include:

Gino Attwood (Two Queens),
Lucy Byatt (Hospitalfield Studios),
Kwong Lee (Castlefield Gallery),
Jo Masding (The Lombard Method),
Mark Robinson (Thinking Practice),
James Steventon (Fermynwoods Contemporary Art)
Gavin Wade (Eastside Projects)
